Set bench 30-45°; grip slightly wider than shoulder-width; touch upper chest.

- Upper chest does the lift — shoulders assist but should not dominate.
- Progression
- Add 2.5 kg per side when 3×5 is clean; drop to low incline for variety.
- Regression
- Incline DB press if shoulder impingement arises from fixed bar path.
Watch for
- Bench too steep (>45°) — turns it into a shoulder press
- Bar bouncing off chest
- Flared elbows — loads anterior delts over chest
