- Progression
- Maintain strict form for 2 sets, then 1 heavy cheat set; build up load progressively.
- Regression
- Strict DB lateral raise at controlled weight before adding cheat technique.
Watch for
- Skipping the slow eccentric — the cheat is only to enable the loaded lowering
- Excessive torso swing — momentum replaces deltoid work on eccentric too
- Using too much weight — form breaks entirely; side delt no longer loads
